A little about me

A builder’s curiosity.
A longer perspective.

I’m Kevin Wimer. Entrepreneur, builder, angel investor—and a husband and father.

I’ve spent more than two decades turning curiosity into products and companies. These days, I’m also making the research questions I spend time with more useful to other people.

What I bring

Experience, including
the hard-earned kind.

Building companies has taught me to work through ambiguity, ask better questions, and communicate complicated ideas clearly. It has also taught me to be careful about certainty.

This site brings those habits to a growing library of resources. Cancer research leads for now, with room for broader interests over time. My role here is that of a curious researcher and experienced builder, not a clinician.

Rivalry

Helped take an esports startup from launch to the public markets. Led marketing and operations as the company grew beyond 150 people and generated tens of millions in revenue.

The financial outcome wasn’t the one I hoped for. The scale, complexity, and lessons changed how I build.

2006–2018 · Co-founder

JamPlay

Helped build an online education company from its first line of code and first customer into a profitable, multimillion-dollar business.

Led development and marketing, and later exited by selling my ownership stake.

The editorial approach

Useful. Sourced.
Open to correction.

01

Start with a real question.

Practical information should help you understand a subject or prepare a better conversation.

02

Make the context visible.

Company claims, published evidence, and personal experience are different things. Sources, dates, limitations, and relationships belong alongside the answer.

03

Keep learning in public.

Resources can be corrected and maintained. Company inclusion is selective, not exhaustive, and is not an endorsement.
