Labcorp / OmniSeq
Labcorp's OmniSeq INSIGHT reads tumor DNA and RNA, plus other biomarkers, to inform treatment and clinical trial discussions. Your doctor orders it using stored tumor tissue.
- Test
- OmniSeq INSIGHT combines tumor DNA/RNA testing with MSI, TMB and PD-L1 assessment for solid tumors.[1]
- Samples
- Preserved solid-tumor tissue block preferred; slides may be accepted. Decalcified samples, cytology smears and blood-cancer samples are excluded.[1]
- Ordering
- Your doctor submits the order and pathology report. Labcorp can arrange retrieval of stored tissue.[1]
Labcorp's OmniSeq INSIGHT tests tumor tissue for DNA and RNA changes, plus markers that may help your doctor discuss targeted drugs, immunotherapy and clinical trials. Your doctor orders it.
What they do
OmniSeq INSIGHT combines a 523-gene DNA panel, RNA testing for fusions, and other biomarkers in one report. It includes PD-L1 protein testing, microsatellite instability (MSI) and tumor mutational burden (TMB). These are different measurements; ask which ones matter for your cancer.
Who it's for
People with solid tumors whose doctors want comprehensive tumor profiling. This profile covers OmniSeq INSIGHT, rather than every Labcorp cancer test.
How to start
Your doctor sends the order, pathology report and other required records. Labcorp can request stored tissue from the facility holding it.
The preferred sample is a preserved tumor tissue block. Slides may also be accepted. Labcorp says not to send decalcified samples, cytology smears or samples from blood cancers for this test. Have pathology confirm the requirements before shipping.
Cost and insurance
As of October 2026, the pages checked did not list a fixed patient price for OmniSeq INSIGHT. Labcorp offers payment plans and financial hardship programs. Its Oncology Services Team handles testing assistance for this test. Ask for a coverage check and expected bill before the sample goes out.
Other options
Caris, Tempus and Foundation Medicine also offer tumor profiling. Compare what the exact test reads and whether it can use the tissue you already have.
What to ask
- What would this add to my existing tumor testing?
- Is my stored tissue suitable, and how much will testing use?
- Does the RNA analysis cover the fusions we need to check?
- What will I owe, and should I apply for assistance first?
Finding a biomarker does not guarantee that a treatment will work or that a trial can accept you.
