Give your AI a notebook: how I keep my cancer care in Notion

AI only knows what's public. What matters most for your care isn't. I keep it all in a Notion notebook that my AI writes to and reads from before it answers anything. Start with 3 pages.

AI only knows what's public. The stuff that matters most for your care isn't: what your doctor said last visit, when a symptom started, what the trial nurse told you on the phone.

So I keep it all in one notebook. Mine is in Notion, and it's 20+ pages now. My AI writes to it and reads from it before it answers anything.

If you only set up one thing from these guides, make it this one. Everything else gets better once your AI knows your story.

My Notion cancer hub. A Quick access table has three columns. Start Here: To Do, Appointments and Doctor Questions, My Profile. Strategy and Treatment: Current Strategy, Personalized Vaccines, Tissue, Sequencing and Biopsy Planning, Imaging and Treatment Response, Trials and Future Treatments, Treatment Options, Promising and Watchlist, Strategy Archive. Records and Research: Symptoms and Events, Detailed Symptom Log, Important Dates, Contacts, Company Ledger, Conversations, Company Backburner. Orange arrows point to Detailed Symptom Log, Trials and Future Treatments, Company Ledger and Conversations. Caption: What no AI model knows on its own.

Start with 3 pages

If you're starting from zero, don't build 20 pages. Start with 3:

  1. Symptoms log. What, when it started, when it stopped, pain 1-10.
  2. Visit notes. What each doctor said, plus questions for next time.
  3. Options. Every treatment or trial anyone has mentioned, and who said it.

That's it. You can add pages when you need them.

Let your AI do the logging

None of mine is by hand. One AI finds new trials, and another helps me research treatments. When one's worth tracking, they add it to the notebook and label it for me. After an appointment, the important parts get logged there too. (Here's how I record every appointment.)

The point isn't a pretty database. The point is that the next time I ask a question, my AI already knows what happened last time.

Fast answers during calls

The notebook is also my fastest lookup. When someone on a call needs a detail like my HLA type, I don't dig through portals and old emails. I ask my AI, and it pulls it from the notebook while I'm still on the phone.

That matters more than it sounds when you're on a stressful call.

Why it's worth it

Each doctor sees their own slice. Your AI sees all of it.

I see a lot of doctors. Nobody else has the whole picture in one place. My notebook does, and that's what lets my AI catch things no single visit would.

Keep going

I'm not a doctor and this isn't medical advice. It's what's working for me. Please talk to your care team before you change anything.
