The Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that funds lung cancer research. It also helps patients and caregivers directly, for all types of lung cancer.

What they offer

  • A free, confidential Lung Cancer Support Line, staffed weekdays by a licensed clinical social worker. They help with resources like financial help, travel and lodging, support groups and clinical trials. Interpreters are available in over 200 languages.
  • A clinical trial finder (run with Carebox) where you answer a short questionnaire, or search by phone.
  • Free printed and downloadable guides, including "Living with Lung Cancer."
  • "Together Separately" livestreams and a Facebook community.
  • Research funding: LCRF says it has funded 450 grants totaling nearly $53 million (as of January 2026).
  • Free to Breathe walks and an annual scientific symposium you can watch online.

How to get help and what it costs

You can call or email the support line as often as you want, and it's free. The trial finder and education materials are free too (checked October 2026). The support line gives education and resources, not medical advice.

How it fits with other groups here

LCRF is broad, for anyone with lung cancer, like LUNGevity and GO2 for Lung Cancer. For biomarker-specific community, see groups like ALK Positive, EGFR Resisters, KRAS Kickers and MET Crusaders. My find support and clinical trials guides cover more.

Questions I would ask

  • What financial or travel help can you point me to?
  • Can you help me look for trials that fit my biomarker?
  • Do you have a support group or peer for my situation?
  • Which of your guides fits where I am now?
